Gower, a 19 miles long peninsula projecting into the Bristol Channel from the west of Swansea, was the UK's very first "area of outstanding natural beauty" designated as such over forty years ago. Parts of the Peninsula are owned by the National Trust which is dedicated to conserving the area for the benefit of future generations.
The beaches of the Gower are highly varied from the huge expanse of Rhossili to tiny inlets accessible only from the sea or by rock climbing.
